Whether you are looking for an easy way to ease into a new school year or starting fresh, this free Picture Match interactive at ReadWriteThink.org is a great way to work with phonics.
Picture Match is a game that helps new readers practice with beginning letters, short-vowel sounds, and long-vowel sounds.
First, choose Beginning-Letter Sounds, Short-Vowel Sounds, or Long-Vowel Sounds to work with. For the beginning-letter sounds you can choose which sounds to begin with or have the game choose randomly for you.
Next, the student matches the pictures shown with the appropriate sounds. For example, when shown a mop, he will click on the O box for the short o sound.
Very simple, but perfect for practicing. And free!
