The Why

I remember when we were using a particular traditional curriculum during a short stint in an apartment while we were in the process of having our home built. My DIY homeschool resources were boxed away, and with everything going on, I simply didn’t have the time or energy to pull everything together myself during those few months of upheaval. My lesson planning was pretty straightforward!

Yet, even then, we added loads of read-alouds and great literature, lots of hands-on gizmos, time for individual interests and hobbies, countless field trips, and several trips to the nearby nature center each week.

The “Extras”

Sometimes it helps to be reminded of those enriching “extras” that really educate the whole child. One way to be reminded is to make space for those extras in your lesson plan.
