One of our Summer Fun Activities is tying knots! Whether camping, boating, or staying cool indoors, there are many times the skill of knot tying comes in handy. And during the summer in particular, it is a great way to keep hands busy while picking up a valuable skill! If you are ready to tackle this one, AnimatedKnots.com is a great place to start ~ a Featured Site!

AnimatedKnots.com

Animated Knots by Grog is the web’s #1 site for learning how to tie knots. From Boating Knots, Fishing Knots and Climbing Knots to tying a tie, or even Surgical Knots — we’ve got it covered.

Follow along as ropes tie themselves, showing just the essential steps, so you can master a knot in no time. Jump into any category to get started.

The site is laid out very well, making it easy to find what you are looking for … including a place to start!

My favorite page is the Complete Knot List. With this bookmarked, you won’t get lost. Knots can also be accessed by activity or type. Other favorites include the knot of the day on the front page and a basic knots page for beginners.

Check out the safety information before beginning. If you decide to have your child keep a notebook, you’ll find the Terminology page helpful. And if you are just beginning, you’ll appreciate knowing what type of rope to use.

AnimatedKnots.com is a great visual way to learn the art of knot tying. And a great summer fun activity!
