Not all of the stories will fit every family. Use the short note at the beginning of each story to help you select ones suited to your children. The table of contents also denotes whether a story will be more enjoyed by younger or older children.

Suggestions

Ask your students to do one or more of the following:

  • There are 8 stories marked for younger children. Read one aloud each day, Monday through Friday, and again Monday through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
  • There are 8 stories marked for older children. Have your older student read one each day Monday through Friday, and again Monday through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
  • Ask for an oral or written narration for each story.
  • There are 15 stories suited for most audiences. (If you are not into hunting, you’ll probably make that 14….) In any case, choose 7 or 8 stories to read aloud each year over the next two years.
  • Choose a favorite author to create an Author page for.
  • Most of the stories describe Thanksgiving traditions. Have your student explain what makes Thanksgiving Thanksgiving.
  • Make a list of things or draw things that you are thankful for.
