We have given our free civics studies an update! These 16 lessons are based on The Century Book for Young Americans by Elbridge S. Brooks. This is an introduction to the government of the United States for all ages told in story form.

During this election year, it is a good time to learn more about how the government works.

By spending two weeks on each of the lessons in our book study, you’ll have a full year of civics lessons.

Topics covered include:

  • The three branches of government.
  • The Constitution.
  • The flag.
  • Various government departments.
  • The Capital.
  • The state, city, and town.
  • The citizen.

The book also ends on a fun note by looking at a few of America’s marvels, such as the Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls, and more.

You’ll find parent/teacher suggestions, ideas for further investigation, hands-on and interactive activities, book recommendations, lesson plans and other units, and notebooking pages and printables.

Links to the free eBook and suggestions for using the lessons are on the introduction page.

Enjoy!
