Prepared Unit Studies

Unit studies come in all shapes and sizes and are easily customized. With the Unit Study Approach, an entire family can pursue a topic in depth, while maintaining the interrelatedness of the disciplines. Each child can work at their own level and go at their own pace. Obviously we advocate the do-it-yourself approach when it comes to designing your own units. But, if you are looking for a starting point, consider one of these favorite prepared unit studies:

  • Beautiful Feet Books
Units based on excellent children’s literature.
  • Cadron Creek Christian Curriculum
Literature-based studies that use quality children’s literature as the basis for very in-depth study. There is a vast array of options covering many areas of discipline. Very adaptable.
  • Christian Cottage Unit Studies
“After teaching and writing units for our CCS families for 15 years, we believe we’ve produced a unit study method that is easy on Mom, and fun for the children. Each volume contains 2-week and one-month units planned to include enough science, history, bible, creative writing, literature and fine arts activities for more than one year. They’re easy to use, and Christian textbooks can be used as resources. Four levels of fun and interesting activities are planned daily for first through twelfth grades.”
  • Five in a Row
Perfect for early education. Fun way to enjoy children’s books together as a family. Then follow rabbit trails of interest.
  • KONOS
“Granddaddy” when it comes to unit studies. The focus is on character but with a classical education flavor.
  • Learning Adventures
A history-based unit study covering skills and concepts for grades 4 through 8. “If you are interested in trying something new and exciting for your next course of study, and you want to bring some enthusiasm back into learning, you’ve come to the right place!”
  • My Father’s World
“Recognizes the Bible, God’s truth, to be the foundation of wisdom and education. Utilizes hands-on, unit studies with daily lesson plans that are easy-to-teach. Enables families and multi-age groups to learn together. Many of our programs may be taught to a range of ages simultaneously. Combines the best of Charlotte Mason’s ideas and classical education with a Biblical worldview, an international focus and our own observations of how children learn.”
  • Tapestry of Grace
“Tapestry of Grace is a homeschool curriculum: a plan of study that helps parents provide a Christian, classical education using a guided unit study approach, with the history of the world as the core organizational theme. From Grades K–12, all students cycle through world history every four years, with all ages studying the same slice of history each week, each at their own learning level. Detailed lesson plans and discussion outlines enable parents to be their children’s primary teachers and mentors and shape their students’ biblical worldviews.”
  • Trisims Curriculum
“Equipping home school, private school, and charter school students with skills that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning. A Superb Classical Education for Middle School and High School; Student Directed – Mentor, Teacher, or Parent Guided; Teaching Students How to Think, Not Just What to Think! More Than Just History – TRISMS is a Research-Based Curriculum.”
  • The Weaver
“The Weaver Curriculum is a unique unit-based, Bible-centered homeschool curriculum. For grades PreK-12th, this family-based curriculum uses the same daily Bible theme as a foundation and then creates lessons for each student. Your students are then studying the same main subject the same time with individual lesson assignment geared to each student’s grade level.”
  • Winter Promise
“Have you ever wished for a curriculum that brings the best of all approaches together? You’ve just found it — literature and activities, family projects, notebooking, student worksheets, and best of all, family memories! WinterPromise pulls together a variety of resources so you can tailor the program to meet the needs of your family members’ individual learning styles. You can count on activities that are exciting for kids and realistic for parents. We’re a great choice if you want a ‘wake up and go’ curriculum that will also build a family culture all your own.”
