Memorial Day, May 29, 2023
We have updated our Memorial Day Holiday Helps page for 2023 — activities and resources that can be used for learning or for simply celebrating the Memorial Day holiday.
Among the resources we have included, you will find:
- History and observance.
- Flag flying and folding.
- Crafts including making wands, flags, and “fireworks.”
- Red, white, and blue edible treat.
- 2 book recommendations.
- 3 lesson plans.
- 5 coloring books.
You will learn the history of the holiday, and find crafts to make, books that fit the occasion, decorations to hang, and instructions on flying, folding, and handling the flag respectfully. There is also a link to our favorite flag cake to make and decorate!
Our Memorial Day Holiday Helps page has been around since May 24, 2006 (originally posted in our HomeHearts Journal)! And in the intervening years it has expanded and grown. We continue to be honored that other sites have found the information helpful in providing ways to celebrate Memorial Day with kids.
