Revolutionary War Animated Map

If reading about battles tends to make your eyes glaze over, you’ll appreciate this Revolutionary War Animated Map from Battlefields.org.

The video presentation includes an animated map that shows where troops were stationed and their movements.

Some students become confused when reading about who is where in a typical battle description. A picture is worth a thousand words. Viewing the movements during battle is much easier to understand than the maps we typically find in texts about the Revolutionary War.

Other animated maps are also available including those covering the Civil War.

This project is sponsored by the American Battlefield Trust and The History Channel.
