Names of Jesus {Free Unit Study}

Over the years we enjoyed several Karen Caroe Christmas unit studies, alternating between them as each December rolled around. These units were originally published long ago, so we have taken the liberty to update the links and provide new resources and suggestions for the Christmas Symbols Unit and Good Christian Men Rejoice unit study. Names of Jesus is another favorite free unit study from Karen Caroe.

The unit starts on December 1 and continues through December 24, covering 24 different names of Jesus. Each day contains a variety of activities, investigations, Bible study, and more over several disciplines.

One of the most important activities is creating a Names of Jesus journal or notebook, not only to record what is done, but also to have a family keepsake that can be displayed throughout the Christmas season.

The schedule can be very flexible to fit the rush of the Christmas season by doing one or several suggested activities that fit into your day.

Suggestions
  • Younger children can use Drawing & Writing paper to create a notebook page for each name of Jesus.
  • Older students can create a digital page in Scribus (open source) or other desktop publishing software to print.
  • Write or type the name of Jesus at the top of the page.
  • Copy the related Scripture verse.
  • Illustrate the name or find a suitable picture to represent the concept.

(Note: We have rounded up resources that help answer the questions in the study. You may have other resources that you and your family will prefer. As always, take what fits, and leave the rest.)
