“Many minds make light work.”
So says Homeschool Share, an “on-line cooperative effort of several homeschooling moms to provide free but quality literature-based unit studies and resources.”
The unit studies are categorized by primary, lower and upper elementary levels. All of the units are tied to literature such as The Ox Cart Man, Miss Hickory or Sarah, Plain and Tall. If you are looking for resources to go along with a specific book, you can browse the author index or book title index.
Many of the units featured correspond to the Five in a Row curriculum. If you use FIAR you’ll appreciate the pages of resources that go along with that program. However, the units will enhance any literature-based program and stand equally well on their own.
There are also a wide variety of lapbooking freebies and resources.
There are many ways to connect with other moms using the site. You can visit the HSS Message Boards, the HSS Blog, or at Facebook. You may also be interested in their Yahoo support group, where you will find lapbook samples and resources, and a place where you can submit your literature-based unit study ideas. A What’s New page will keep you up-to-date.
Check out their FAQs for answers on how best to use the site, how to get started with literature-based units, and information on lapbooking and notebooking.
